Introduction

Hey there, everybody! How are you today? Great to see you!

My name is Andrew James Johnson. I'm a composer and pianist from the UK. We're sitting in a great studio here in the heart of London, with a beautiful Steinway piano.

My Experience

I'm going to be recording some great tracks for you, helping you to understand and play your pieces better.

A Little Bit About Me

  • Professional Pianist: I've been a professional pianist for about 25 years.
  • World Tour: I've played all over the world, with orchestras and bands.
  • Music Director: I've worked for Disney and on some of the big cruise ships, and with major entertainment companies.

Currently, I'm focusing on composing and working on my own album. I've released a few albums over the years and am having a great time in the music industry, using these fingers to make and play music.

Learning the Piano

It's really great that you have chosen to learn the piano! That's absolutely fantastic news.

Whether you're a beginner watching this or an advanced Grade 8 student learning some hardcore pieces, you are in the right place.

My Musical Range

I have played everything from:

  • Concertos
  • Sonatas
  • Beethoven
  • Bach
  • Chopin
  • Rachmaninoff

To contemporary artists like:

  • Bruce Hornsby ("The Way It Is")
  • David Bowie ("Life on Mars")
  • Coldplay
  • Elton John

You name it; we've got the lot! I look forward to getting under the skin of the music and diving into details that you might not have had in your lessons.

Instruction Approach

Whether you have regular lessons or are purely learning visually, I'm here to help you understand the finer points of making music.

What We'll Cover

  • Technical Skills:
    • How to do scales
    • Playing arpeggios
  • Musical Expression:
    • How to express yourself
    • Bringing professionalism into your playing

It's not just about the black dots on the page; music is so much more than that. As you learn and improve, I hope to help you make your music come alive.

The Bridge Between Amateur and Pro

The real difference between a professional player and an amateur is the ability to speak to people and communicate the message of the music, whether it's for yourself or your audience.

Conclusion

That's what we're here to do, and I can't wait to see you on the inside! We'll get started with some of the courses and pieces that we're going to be doing.

It's going to be a lot of fun! Really looking forward to it.

See you there! Cheers!
