Hello, I'm Charlie Griffiths, and I'm a guitar player for the band Haken.

I also wrote some of the rock score syllabus, including pieces you might be learning from my compositions. Additionally, I've been a contributor to the guitar magazines Total Guitar and Guitar Techniques for many years, since the time of the dinosaurs, it seems!

Lesson Overview

In this lesson, I will be:

• Playing through the metal pieces from grades two to eight
• Breaking down the songs
• Offering tips on how to approach learning the songs
• Looking at various techniques to improve your playing, including:
  • Improvisation
  • Technical skills such as:
    • Left and right hand coordination
    • Alternate picking
    • Fretting
