Solo Techniques and Bass Line Flexibility
Did you notice in my solo that I was using two-bar patterns in the bass?
- The bass line can be quite flexible.
- You don't always have to just play the same thing in every bar.
By now, you should have several options so that every time you revisit the beginning of the 12 bars, you're not playing exactly the same bass line.
Increasing Right-Hand Fluency
To increase your fluency in the right hand:
- Practice arpeggios with the root on top as well as the bottom.
- This is really good for strengthening the fourth and fifth fingers.
You could also try:
- Broken chords played like this.
This will really help you get used to playing the different inversions of the chord and provide you with a lot more options in your solos.
