Music Lesson: Jack MacDuff's "Memphis in June"

So we're going to look at another Jack MacDuff tune, his version of quite a well-known tune called "Memphis in June."

Overview

  • It's a really pretty, very minimal, and restrained melody.
  • It has a classic sort of jazz tone in your right hand.
  • There's going to be some comping underneath where the horn solo is, and some backing in your left hand underneath the melody.

Jack's Solo

We'll also have a look at the solo that Jack plays himself, which is very, very sweet and very effective.

And, yeah, here we go.

Intro

The intro has a very much standalone tone, which is quite interesting.
