Rhythm Values Recap
Let's do a recap of our rhythm values.
Whole Note
- The longest note we've learned is a whole note, which lasts for four beats.
- Demonstration: 1, 2, 3, 4.
- A whole note rest is silence for four counts.
Half Note
- Next, we've learned about the half note, which lasts for two counts.
- It would sound like: 1, 2, 1, 2.
- The half note rest depicts silence for two counts.
Quarter Note
- Then, we learned about the quarter note, which lasts for one count.
- It would sound like: 1, 1, 1, 1.
- A quarter rest would be one count of silence.
Eighth Notes
- Finally, we learned about eighth notes, which last for half of a count.
- It would sound something like: 1 and 1 and 1 and 1.
- An eighth note rest also lasts for half of a count.
Bringing It All Together
Let's bring all of this together in the next piece, Beat the Mersey.
- We'll play some sharps, and also you can look out for a rest.
