Last Beat and Shaker Sound Lesson
Hey, guys,
I thought I'd leave you with one last beat so you can show off with your friends.
Introducing the Shaker Sound
I want to teach you a shaker sound, which really puts everything together. It's a really simple sound, goes like this: all you're doing is saying the word "right."
- You alternate between "chick" and the "sh" sound.
- When you hear it on its own, you can go simply.
And then in a beat, it sounds like: "right." Simple enough!
Adding the Shaker
When you put the shaker in, it sounds like this, and it really fills it out, giving it a really nice full sound.
- While you're getting used to the shaker sound, you can even pronounce the word:
- "chicka chicka, right?"
- It sounds like:
- "chicka, chicka, chick, chicka, chicka, chick, chicka, right?"
Practicing Without Vocalization
Once you get used to that, you can take away the vocalization and keep your "sh" sound, which sounds like: "right."
Expanding the Beat
Once you've practiced that beat and got the hang of it, then you can start to go faster, making it a bit more complicated. This can include:
- Putting in cymbal crashes
- Trying different kinds of hi-hats in between the shaker sounds
Just do whatever you feel you want to express and go with it.
