Max Sedgley - producer, DJ and former drummer with drum & bass pioneer Roni Size - sits down at a vintage 70s kit to teach the breaks that built modern music: the Amen break from The Winstons, Melvin Bliss's "Synthetic Substitution", Skull Snaps' "It's a New Day", Banbarra's "Shack Up" and the Isley Brothers' "Footsteps in the Dark", among others.
You'll learn each groove from the front and from a top-view camera so you can see exactly what his hands and feet are doing, then get his practice tips for tightening your timing and feel. By the end you'll have nine classic breaks under your sticks and recognise them inside countless hip-hop, house and drum & bass tracks you already know.
