About this songbook

Play with Lang Lang at your side

Step up to Grade 4 with one of the world's most celebrated pianists as your guide. Lang Lang's Mastering the Piano Level 4 turns eight early intermediate units into a real musical adventure, pairing classical studies and Romantic repertoire with Lang Lang's own warm, encouraging commentary on pedalling, chords and rubato.

Why early intermediate pianists love this book

Across eight units you refine posture and hand shape, master legato pedalling, explore new accompaniment styles, balance chords in 3rds and 6ths, sharpen dotted rhythms and swung jazz feels, dig into musical context and storytelling, shape phrases with rubato, and build the dexterity to handle Baroque counterpoint. Each unit opens with a friendly message from Lang Lang and a focused warm up, then grows into studies and pieces by composers such as Bartok, Schumann, Grieg, Gershwin and Bach.

Who it is for

This book suits pianists around Grade 4 who read confidently in both hands and want a structured, inspiring path into early intermediate repertoire. Teachers will find eight self-contained units that can be taught in any order, while independent learners get clear technical guidance on every page, from Chinese and Korean folk arrangements to Romantic character pieces and a Baroque invention.

Play along and learn by ear

Every warm up, study and piece comes with a recorded backing track and an interactive score, gathered in a Replay sheet music playlist. Start now, listen to the model performances, then press play and learn the way Lang Lang himself first learned: by listening closely and playing along with real classical, Romantic, Baroque, folk and jazz repertoire.
