About this songbook

Step onto the pedal and into fuller chords with one of the world's most celebrated pianists as your guide. Lang Lang's Mastering the Piano Level 3 turns Grade 3 practice into a real adventure, pairing classical studies and beloved repertoire with Lang Lang's own warm, encouraging voice.

Play with Lang Lang at your side

Across eight focused units you introduce the sustaining pedal, strengthen your hands, master full chords and step confidently into new keys with major and harmonic minor scales. Each unit opens with a friendly message from Lang Lang and a targeted warm up, then grows into studies and pieces by composers such as Czerny, Grieg, Handel, Schumann and Tchaikovsky. Press play and learn as pedalling, chords and independent hands stack naturally from one classical piano page to the next.

Why developing pianists love this book

The progression is purposeful. You colour phrases with the sustaining and una corda pedals, voice three note chords with a relaxed wrist, and build the dexterity for broken chord patterns across the whole keyboard. Favourites like El cóndor pasa and the traditional Chinese song Hua hao yue yuan sit alongside a Handel Sarabande and Schumann's showstopping The wild horseman, keeping motivation high right through to the final page.

Who it is for

This book suits pianists around Grade 3 who already read confidently in both hands and want a structured, inspiring path into fuller classical piano textures. Teachers will find ready-made units, while independent learners get clear guidance and Lang Lang's own commentary on every page.

Play along and learn by ear

Many studies, pieces and warm ups come with recorded and interactive backing tracks, gathered in a Replay sheet music playlist. Start now, listen to the model performances, then play along and bring each classical, Romantic and folk arrangement to life at the piano.
