About this songbook

Step up to the keyboard with one of the world's most celebrated pianists as your guide. Lang Lang's Mastering the Piano Level 2 turns Grade 2 practice into an adventure, pairing classical studies and well-loved repertoire with Lang Lang's own warm, encouraging voice.

Play with Lang Lang at your side

Across eight focused units you explore the keyboard, sharpen hand coordination, master rhythmic control and shape real musical phrasing. Each unit opens with a friendly message from Lang Lang and a targeted warm up, then grows into studies and pieces by composers such as Schumann, Haydn, Czerny, Bartok and Tchaikovsky. Press play and learn as the skills stack naturally from one page to the next.

Why developing pianists love this book

The progression is gentle but purposeful. You build dexterity through fast-finger exercises, strengthen weaker fingers, free up the left hand and finish by colouring everything with expressive dynamics and Italian terms. Famous tunes like the Dance of the sugar plum fairy from The Nutcracker keep motivation high.

Who it is for

This book suits players around Grade 2 who can already read in both hands and want a structured, inspiring path forward. Teachers will find ready-made units, while independent learners get clear guidance on every page.

Play along and learn by ear

Many studies, pieces and warm ups come with recorded and interactive backing tracks, gathered in a Replay sheet music playlist. Start now, listen to the model performances, then play along and bring each classical miniature to life.
