Prepare for Your Singing Journey
So while I'm working with you today on the songs, make sure that you have water by your side or a cup of tea, or whatever you feel is good for your voice at the moment.
- You might consider:
- A little bit of lemon
- Some honey
- Hot water (let it cool down to a nice room temperature)
Just have that ready, along with a nice bottle of water, and then you're all set.
Challenge Yourself
What I want you to do today is to set yourself a challenge.
- See if you can:
- Learn a song within, say, two or three weeks.
- Perform it in front of your family members.
- Go down to your local club, working men's club, pub, social hall, or church, and perform it in front of an audience.
Why Set a Goal?
Set yourself that challenge. Set yourself that goal because it will be so rewarding!
- Achieving something within yourself will:
- Give you encouragement.
- Provide the drive and ambition to continue on this journey.
Explore Your Musical Range
There are hundreds and hundreds of songs out there that you can learn, so don't just use these two for your repertoire.
- Embrace other songs:
- Listen to lots of different types of music.
- If you think, "I love soul music," start singing soul songs.
- If something else catches your ear, like jazz, then dive into jazz or bebop, whatever it is, you're going to love it!
Your world of music will just blossom in front of your eyes, and you will be so happy to further your ambition and career as a singer.
Share Your Passion
So set yourself those goals.
- Get your family to sit down, make them listen,
- Tell them the story, show them the emotion,
- Make them proud, and make yourself proud as well.
