How to Use the Material

Let me explain how to use the material we've got here to get the best results:

1. Get a Rock School Grade Book
   If you haven't got one already, you'll want to get hold of a Rock School grade book. There's a lot you can pick up from this course without it, but it'll be a lot more effective if you do have the book.

2. Course Structure
   This course starts with the pieces and then moves on to material that builds your technical ability. But there's loads of other information on all sorts of topics, such as:

   • Coordination
   • Timekeeping
   • Vocabulary
   • Phrasing
   • Soloing
     Tons of stuff!

Performance Insights

The pieces are performed by a drummer who specializes in that style. They follow up their performance by giving their professional perspective on the piece, which includes:

• Tips on how to really play the style authentically.

Often, these analyses will go beyond what's technically required for the grade exam, but embrace this. Relish the challenge, that's what this course is about: the next level of pro advice.

Technical Exercises

After the pieces, we dive into technical exercises, which are the building blocks of any drummer's technique. We've also got some unique insights on other elements of the Rock School syllabus, such as:
