Stripe 3: Moving the Slide on the Trombone
Hi, welcome to Stripe 3!
The time has finally come for us to move the slide on the trombone. Let's go over a few things we've learned already.
Holding the Trombone Correctly
- Unlock the Slide: Make sure the slide is unlocked.
- Grip: Use two fingers and your thumb to hold it.
- Positioning: Bring the trombone up.
Moving the Slide
- Smooth Movement: See if you can move the slide smoothly out and back in without moving the trombone around.

Remember: There are high, medium, and low pitches.

- With the slide all the way in, the pitches sound like this.
- As we move the slide further out, those pitches go down in pitch.

About the instructor
Liam Kirkman ist ein Posaunist, der am Royal Northern College of Music und an der Guildhall School of Music and Drama ausgebildet wurde. In über 20 Jahren als Musiker hat er in einer ungewöhnlich breiten Palette von Musik gearbeitet, von Radiohead, Michael Bublé, Lady Gaga und dem John Wilson Orchestra bis zum English National Ballet, und er hat an zahlreichen Filmmusiken und TV-Soundtracks mitgewirkt. Als ehemaliger Präsident der British Trombone Society hat er Studierende an der Royal Academy of Music, am Royal College of Music und am Trinity Laban unterrichtet, ebenso wie junge Spieler bei ihren ersten Schritten auf dem Blechblasinstrument. Er glaubt daran, vielseitig zu bleiben und für jede Art des Musizierens offen zu sein – der Ansatz, der das Spielen seiner Meinung nach zugleich herausfordernd und erfüllend hält. read more
