Introduction to the Project
Okay, so this was a version that I'd fleshed out using all the loops that we'd created for this loop pack. I used Logic, obviously, to arrange it.
Creating and Editing Loops
The way this particular project works is that I create the loops in Logic. I write everything in Logic, I do all my editing in Logic, and then I output it into Ableton Live.
- Processing and Loop Editing:
- I do any other processing or loop editing in Ableton just so loops are seamless.
- This ensures that when they're looping, there aren't any clicks or pops.
After this, I'll put them back into Logic and create this arrangement.
Current Status of the Track
So, it's not finished; it's unfinished. This is just my vision of what it should sound like. It's polished in terms of, you know, I've mixed it to some degree.
Adjustments Made
While we were working on this, we decided somewhere along the line that the bass sounds were a little too electronic. We wanted to add a more human side to it and give it a little bit more funk because it harks back to some kind of Motown soul sound.
- Bass Changes:
- I changed the bass and added some more acoustic and upright bass to it.
- These are all sampled sounds.
So, you'll get an idea as the track plays through.
Conclusion and Future Work
Okay, so that concludes my little development of this track. It's very grid-based, different from the original track I played, which was more linear in its arrangement.
- Two Techniques for Track Building:
- This is very much a work in progress.
- I never really intended to flesh out this track and make it into something.
At this moment in time, it was really just to finish the project, which was to create the loops, get them right, and take them onto another format or media format.
I will eventually be finishing this, but I think we can have a look at just breaking it down a little bit, not so much at the arrangement, because this is just one idea, but perhaps looking at mixing the track, which will bring us into our next section, really.
