This breathing exercise features the short inhale and long exhale pattern of real singing.
Steps

Short Deep Sip of Air In
- Action: Take a short deep sip of air in.
- Sound: Long controlled hiss out.
- Instructions:
- Sip hiss.
- Keep it flowing out.
- Keep it controlled and steady.
- Sip hiss.
- Keep it gently flowing out.
- Sip hiss.

Silent In-Breath and Humming
- Action: Now take a silent in-breath and hum.
- Instructions:
- Keep that hum vibrating in the front of the face.
- Silent breath and hum.

Opening to Vowels
- Action: Gently open out to an E after a silent breath.
- Instructions:
- Silent breath.
- Hum and open out to an R.

- Action: Now back to sip and hiss.

Kim a été pendant de nombreuses années directrice musicale de grandes sessions d'enregistrement d'entreprise aux Abbey Road Studios de Londres et l'une des coachs vocales des tournées d'audition de “The Voice UK”. Elle est régulièrement invitée à animer des masterclasses, des ateliers et des formations d'enseignants, et intervient aussi régulièrement lors de congrès vocaux nationaux et internationaux, notamment comme conférencière principale dans son pays natal, l'Australie.
Dans le monde académique, Kim a passé une décennie à divers postes de direction de la British Voice Association, comme responsable de la communication, ancienne présidente et directrice. Elle possède de nombreuses années d'expérience d'enseignement en institution, comme Principal/Senior Lecturer au Leeds College of Music et au London College of Music respectivement, et a été responsable du chant à Vocaltech (aujourd'hui BIMM London).
Son travail pédagogique figure dans de nombreuses thèses de master et de doctorat et dans des ouvrages de référence tels que “Training Contemporary Commercial Singers” (Compton), “Teaching Singing in the 21st Century” (Springer) et “The Ultimate Guide To Singing” (TC-Helicon).
Kim est la seule créatrice de la série d'exercices vocaux “Funky ‘n Fun”, populaire à l'international et utilisée dans de nombreuses institutions, des studios privés et par de nombreux artistes en tournée, qui constitue la base de ce cours “Funky Fundamentals for Pop Singers” (www.funkynfun.com).
