Introduction to the Instructor

So before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself as the instructor of this course.

I began singing in about 2005. I started in a local rock band, and my bandmates actually suggested that I should probably go and take lessons because, at that point, I was really, really bad at singing.

I had a drive and a passion for it, but I just didn't have the skills necessary to sing well. I began singing lessons as probably many of you have or have thought of going to a local music school and taking one-on-one lessons with a teacher there.

Unfortunately, it actually ended up being a massive waste of time. While she was a beautiful singer, she just couldn't convey how I could sing better.

Misconceptions and Setbacks

She actually ended up reinforcing a lot of misconceptions, such as:

  • The belief that I would never be able to extend my range (which is not true, because I've actually done that).
  • The idea that I was kind of born with what I had and had to get used to using those limiting beliefs she put into my head.

These beliefs held me back a lot in my progress.

Despite these setbacks, I was determined to learn how to sing, extend my range, and get better at what I knew could potentially become something great.

Turning to Online Resources

After my experience with the local music school, I turned to the Internet. I scoured it for any and all singing programs that I could possibly find. I got my hands on every singing program that was available at the time.

Over a number of years, I took all those singing courses, which really helped improve my voice. However, I still grappled with some negative core beliefs about my voice and about myself that were holding me back.

One-on-One Coaching

I started one-on-one lessons with about 10 different coaches over the years. I saw significant improvements during that period, where I was able to break through many of those limiting beliefs and go from singing quite badly to singing really well.

The Unique Program

Now, I want to distill that 13-14 years of experience into a very clear program that I don't think has ever really been created before.

What makes this program unique is that it:

  • Separates out men from women: We have different anatomical structures when it comes to the voice and need to treat our voices differently to see maximum improvements.
  • Focuses on relatability: I believe I am in a unique position, coming from zero talent to being able to develop my voice. This allows me to teach almost anybody, regardless of their talent level, how to sing because I've experienced the struggles you're going through right now.

Conclusion

Now that you know a little bit about myself, let's jump into the main course material.
