Beth Blackerby


Beth Blackerby has been a professional violinist and teacher in Austin, Texas for a quarter century. Beth has performed with the Austin Lyric Opera, the Austin Symphony, Chamber Soloists of Austin, Conspirare, and the Santa Fe Pro Musica.
After completing her Masters Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Beth went to Europe in pursuit of an orchestra job. She won a position in 1987 with the prestigious Gran Teatro del Liceu opera orchestra in Barcelona Spain, where she played for two years. Beth returned to the US and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Texas in Austin, serving as the assistant director of the ground-breaking University of Texas String Project and a teaching assistant for String Methods courses.
After completing doctoral courses at UT, she took a position as violin instructor at Texas Lutheran University in 1996 and served as concertmaster of the Mid Texas Symphony. Soon after, Beth’s career took a turn toward business as she founded a stringed instrument shop in Austin, TX with her husband Al Marabella, which they owned for twenty years.
